Bodegas Enguera Sueño de Megala Single-Vineyard Marselán (750ml)
Product Overview
Sueño de Megala is an ultra-premium, deeply concentrated Spanish red wine representing the absolute pinnacle of long-aging craftsmanship from Bodegas Enguera. Sourced entirely from a single, low-yielding 2.5-hectare plot of 20-year-old vines in the Fontanars dels Alforins sub-region of Valencia, this expression is a rare 100% showcase of the Marselán grape (a cross between Cabernet Sauvignon and Grenache). It is entirely organic, biodynamic, and vegan-friendly. It masterfully pairs the dense, sun-ripened power of the Mediterranean coast with a striking, fresh acidity born from high-altitude viticulture.
The Craftsmanship
Single-Vineyard Terroir: Harvested exclusively from a tiny 2.5-hectare dry-farmed parcel situated at 650 metres above sea level on calcareous clay-loam soils.
Meticulous Maceration: The wine undergoes a 5-day cold pre-fermentative maceration to extract pure fruit aromatics, followed by an extensive 30-day post-fermentation maceration with gentle pump-overs to develop structural depth.
Extended Dual-Aging: Matured for 15 to 22 months in second- to fourth-fill French oak barrels—which imparts velvety structure without masking the fruit—followed by an additional 2 to 3 years of patient bottle aging before release.
Natural Integrity: Crafted with an uncompromising focus on environmental ecology, resulting in a rich, 14.5% ABV powerhouse with an incredibly polished profile.
Tasting Notes
Aroma: Highly expressive, complex, and uncommonly fresh. Intense notes of ripe blackberries, dark cherry compote, and wild blueberries melt into a classic Mediterranean landscape of mint, rosemary, wild thyme, and forest floor. Subtle hints of violet, clove, white pepper, and a touch of curry spice linger in the background.
Palate: High concentration, immense volume, and breadth on the palate. A luxurious, velvety texture wraps around dense flavors of dark fruits, stewed plums, cocoa, and leather, seamlessly supported by well-balanced acidity and highly polished, sweet tannins.
Finish: Exceptionally long-lasting, persistent, and graceful. It leaves a comforting, highly satisfying aftertaste of dark fruit compote, subtle minerals, and delicate oak spices.
