Description

Description
The Provenance Vineyards Deadeye Red Blend is a bold, luxurious red wine from Napa Valley AVA, California. The name "Deadeye" features a crosshair icon pulled from the winery's primary logo, symbolizing the precision and care taken during the vineyard selection and blending process.
The Blend & Sourcing

The wine is a masterful, Bordeaux-style Californian blend composed primarily of Cabernet Sauvignon, complemented by variable percentages of Petite Sirah, Merlot, Petit Verdot, and Malbec depending on the vintage.
To build its complex layer of flavors, grapes are sourced from highly esteemed sub-appellations across Napa Valley, including:
  • St. Helena
  • Howell Mountain
  • Oakville
  • Spring Mountain
Winemaking & Aging

  • Harvest: The grapes are night-harvested to preserve vibrant natural acidity and fresh fruit flavors.
  • Maceration: The fruit undergoes a gentle cold-soak period to optimize color and flavor extraction before fermentation.
  • Aging: The wine is aged for 18 months in a combination of French, American, and Hungarian oak barrels, with traditional racking occurring every three months to naturally clarify the liquid.
Tasting Profile

  • Appearance: Deep, concentrated purple-ruby color in the glass.
  • Aromas: Highly expressive, opening with intense notes of ripe black cherry, stewed blackberry, mint chocolate, and mocha, accented by subtle nuances of clove, graphite, and lavender.
  • Palate: Full-bodied, opulent, and remarkably plush. It delivers a "chewy" and creamy mouthfeel with well-structured, velvety tannins. Layers of bitter dark chocolate, blueberry pudding, and rich red berry fruits unfold gracefully.
  • Finish: Long, polished, and beautifully structured, leaving a lingering trace of toasted oak and dark spice.
  • Specs: Typically sits around 15.2% to 15.5% ABV, making it a robust, warming choice.
Food Pairings

This wine's powerful structure and deep fruit profile require hearty, rich dishes that can stand up to its bold personality:
  • Meats: Grilled prime ribeye steak, slow-braised beef short ribs, or rosemary-crusted roasted lamb chops.
  • Sauces & Pastas: Rich wild mushroom ragù over polenta or pasta.
  • Cheese: Aged Gouda, sharp cheddar, or blue chees
